David Cameron said he would “warmly welcome” a recommendation for Mo Farah to be knighted.

The 30-year-old athlete achieved an unforgettable double-double in Moscow on Friday night as he added two world titles to the twin Olympic triumphs from last summer. The feat, completed by racing to 5,000 metres glory at the Luzhniki Stadium, sealed his status as perhaps the best British athlete in history.

The Prime Minister said: “If the honours committee were to recommend Mo for a knighthood, I would warmly welcome it.”

Farah was awarded a CBE at the end of last year.

Workers’ public toilet plea

Workers who spend their day outside are facing increasing problems in finding a toilet because British Government spending cuts have led to many facilities being closed, a new report has warned.

The Unison union said transport workers, postmen and women, police community support officers and refuse collectors are among those affected. Heather Wakefield, Unison’s head of local government, said: “The idea that you can just go into a shop or restaurant and ask to use the toilets is just not on. Some are helpful – particularly to those in uniform – but many times people are met with a sign saying ‘Customers only’. It is embarrassing.”

Small apartment in a big city

Many New Yorkers live in small apartments. Most of them don’t camp out in a micro-unit at a museum to demonstrate the virtues of small-space living.

That’s what Challie Stillman and Lina Franco are doing. The two women live in a 650-square-foot apartment in Brooklyn, but for 24 hours they are living in a model apartment half that size at the Museum of the City of New York in Manhattan.

The apartment is part of an exhibit that runs through September 2 called Making Room: New Models for Housing New Yorkers. The apartment features space-saving furniture and under-the-counter appliances.

Katie Price’s ‘nightmare’ birth

Katie Price has given birth to a son called Jett Riviera eight weeks early by caesarean section.

The glamour model, 35, gave birth to a 5lb 2oz boy last week after she developed a potentially life-threatening infection, The Sun Sunday said.

Katie said the baby’s heart rate was found to be “really low” during a family holiday and medical staff quickly informed her she was to have a c-section.

“Bringing life into the world is supposed to be magical. But what I went through was a nightmare,” she told the newspaper.

In June, Katie said she was having a rough time with the pregnancy.

“It’s the worst pregnancy I’ve had – lots of problems with being anaemic, low platelets, a lot heavier than I was before – but it’s the fourth one so I know what to expect,” she said.

Britons ‘take food overseas’

Foreign fare is failing to entice Britons, with around a third choosing to take their own food away with them.

As many as 35 per cent said they had packed food when they travelled on their last trip overseas, a survey by online travel agency sunshine.co.uk found.

The most popular reason for taking food away on holiday was to save money.
