One lucky crab has landed a multi-coloured pad made especially for him.

Harry the hermit crab, who lives in the rock pool in the Atlantis Discovery Area at Legoland in Windsor, Berkshire, in the UK, has a shell made entirely of Lego bricks.

Hermit crabs do not have their own shells so normally protect their soft bodies by salvaging empty sea shells and moving into them but Harry showed more discerning taste when he chose a shell made out of Lego bricks.

A senior aquarist at Legoland, said: “ He rejected the sea and snail shells on offer and seems very comfortable in his new home.“

Avoiding the games

One in four Britons who have booked a holiday abroad this summer have deliberately chosen their dates to avoid the Olympic Games, a study has suggested.

Some 35 per cent of those surveyed have already planned a holiday abroad, and around three quarters of them said the Olympics had affected their departure dates in some way, according to the survey from foreign exchange firm Travelex.

More than a quarter (26%) said they had chosen their departure dates to avoid the Games.

High-flying candidate

A candidate for the US Congress can put on ballot papers that he used to be an astronaut.

A Sacramento County judge in California has ruled that Democrat José Hernandez, who flew aboard the shuttle Discovery in 2009 and is challenging freshman Republican Representative Jeff Denham for the state’s 10th District seat, can use the ballot designation “astronaut”.

Lawyers had argued that Mr Hernandez’s use of the moniker would violate state elections law because he had now left Nasa.

Viagra customers targeted in protest

Hospital pharmacists are threatening to cut Italians off from their Viagra as part of their protest against Government reform plans for the sector.

Union official Loredana Vasselli said pharmacists decided to focus the protest on Viagra because it is a sought-after drug but withholding it “does not put patients’ health at risk”.

Pharmacists will stage a series of labour actions during April, culminating with the so-called “Viagra strike” by not dispensing the blue pills if their complaints are not redressed.
