A motorbike once owned by Hollywood legend Steve McQueen is set to go under the hammer.

The 1914 Indian Model F once owned by the daredevil actor is going up for auction at the Bonhams sale at the International Classic MotorCycle Show in Stafford on April 28.

McQueen, known as the King of Cool, was an avid motorbike and race car enthusiast and regularly took part in races. He collected classic motorcycles and was believed to have a collection of more than 100 at the time of his death.

Ben Walker, head of the Bonhams Motorcycle Department, said: “This machine was part of McQueen’s collection rather than one he would have raced.” (AP)

Hiccups create problem for girl

A teenage girl has hiccupped every two seconds since January and doctors have yet to find a cure.

Emily Marsh, 13, who even hiccups in her sleep, said the bizarre complaint started when she was on her way to a maths lesson. Baffled doctors have done an MRI and ultrasound scans and a chest X-ray.

Her mother, Cathy Barrett, 45, of Wallington, Surrey, said: “Emily is exhausted. We are willing to try anything.” (PA)

Driver was ‘high on drums’

A van driver caught swerving through traffic and jumping red lights told police he was “high on drum and bass”.

Delivery man Aaton Cogley, 25, passed a drink and drugs test and blamed his lack of concentration on the thumping dance tunes he had on his stereo, The Sun reported.

Police in an unmarked car spotted Cogley “cutting up” another motorist, driving slowly through two sets of red lights, veering from lane to lane and taking one corner so fast his van rocked on its chassis. (PA)

Man repeatedly sneaks inside

An ex-prisoner who repeatedly used a fake ID to gain entry to New York City’s jails may get his wish to do more time.

Prosecutors told a judge that they want Matthew Matagrano to be locked up for 10 years. Matagrano has pleaded not guilty to felony burglary in Manhattan Supreme Court. The judge doubled his bail to $100,000 (€77,000) and ordered him to get medical attention. Matagrano said he repeatedly sneaked into jails because the people inside were “nice” and made him “feel important”, the New York Post reported. (PA)

Death for drug smuggling

The UK Government has said it is disappointed that Briton Lindsay Sandiford has lost her appeal against her death sentence for drug smuggling in Bali, Indonesia.

It was announced yesterday that a court in Bali had upheld the death sentence against Sandiford, from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, after she was convicted of smuggling £1.6 million worth of cocaine.

After being sentenced to death by firing squad in January, the 56-year-old grandmother lodged an appeal against the decision but that has now been rejected.

Sandiford, originally from Redcar, Teesside, was arrested in May when 3.8kilos of cocaine were discovered in her luggage at Bali’s airport. (AP)
