A company that manages a Hawaii dinner cruise has acknowledged mistakenly serving alcohol to a three-year-old boy.

A woman said her son was given orange juice containing vodka while they were aboard the Alii Kai Catamaran, adding that she noticed him turning red, acting unruly and mumbling. She tried his drink and tasted alcohol, even offering it to nearby tourists for confirmation.

The company that manages the cruise, Roberts Hawaii, said it was mortified as it apologised for the error, adding in a statement: “We have had an alcohol safety procedure in place for 20 years and this is the first time we have had an incident like this.”
