Recessionary times have been especially tough for aviation in general.

The Malta Special will provide a timely gauge of the recovery prospects, not only for the Maltese aerospace industry, but for the whole of north and sub-Saharan Africa.

The launch of the Malta Special will be held at Bank of Valletta’s head office in St Venera on May 7. More than 90 people will discuss regulatory and operational issues.

The government has been a beneficiary of inward investment by European aerospace companies.

This may be mainly attributed to its relatively low-cost base, highly educated workforce, well developed transport infrastructure and low tax regime.

The launch of the Malta Special, will also see the first Airnews Aviation Awards.

A panel chaired by Francesca Galea will determine the winners in three categories – Aviator of the Year, Leader of the Year, and the Airnews Lifetime Achievement Award.
