A woman who died following a car accident was yesterday called to testify for the second time causing “anxiety and pain” to her husband who is charged with her involuntary homicide.
The oversight by the Attorney General to summon Renée Pelland was unacceptable, especially considering that his office knew exactly what was going on in the case, defence lawyer Stefano Filletti said.
Ms Pelland was with her husband, Jean Guy Legendre, 68, of Quebec, Canada when the car crash happened on July 16, 2011.
Mr Legendre, who was driving, is charged with the involuntary homicide of his wife, seriously injuring two drivers and damaging a BMW.
Clayton James Fenech, 26, is accused of similar charges. The Legendres were in their Chevrolet Kalos in Infetti Street below Mdina’s walls , when they were involved in a collision with a BMW Z3 sports car driven by Mr Fenech, who was injured. Mr Fenech’s friend, Mark Camilleri, was a passenger.
A third car, a Toyota Vitz, driven by Paulina Buhagiar, 55, crashed into the two cars, injuring the woman. Ms Buhagiar’s passengers were her husband, Anthony, 60, and their four-year-old grandson.
