A woman was yesterday jailed for nine months after pleading guilty to stealing four history books from a shop in Valletta.

Sonia Bajada, 40, from Swatar, pleaded guilty to taking the books and walking out of Agenda Bookshop at the Embassy Complex in Valletta, on April 20. The books cost about €400.

Magistrate Edwina Grima was told that Ms Bajada is a relapser and had 10 convictions on her criminal record, most of them for theft.

Police Inspector Daniel Zammit prosecuted. Lawyer Lucio Sciriha appeared for the accused.
