A 58-year-old woman yesterday suffered grievous injuries after her vehicle plunged down a height of about one storey in the area known as Tas-Santi, limits of Mġarr.

The incident happened around noon when Maria Grazia Galea, who was driving a Toyota IQ, was involved in a head-on collision with a Ford Fiesta driven by a middle-aged woman.

The Toyota plunged off the narrow country road, ending up in a field below, with the windscreen shattered. The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance but was not in a critical condition.
