Further to what has already been written in previous letters on the play Fl-isem tal-Missier u ta’ l-Iben u ta’ l-Ispettur Bonnici, I too found the title insensitive and lacking in good taste, to say the least.

However, I was persuaded to go and see the play at the Manoel Theatre after listening to a promotion about it on television. The speaker spoke about its relevance to our present-day situation in Malta as well as to its excellent plot.

I found the plot interesting and entertaining but, I ask, what was the need for those frequent vulgar expressions in Maltese? I believe I was not the only member of the audience to find them distasteful. The play would have lost nothing if these had been omitted or at least watered down.

I believe the author, skilled as he is, should in future show more consideration to the sensitivities of his audience.
