Being an island, famous for its beautiful Mediterranean Sea and world-renowned Grand Harbour, I suggest that, considering the amount of dedicated carnival enthusiasts we have in Malta, it is about time to start considering the possibility of having a floating carnival as well.

Ideally, this may take place around the Grand Harbour and may even be held during the summer months. True, the logistics for such a project are not easy, nor cheap. However, EU funds exist for such cultural novelties if we are truly committed to tap into them and try our luck like others do.

Besides being a novel idea (definitely to our islands), it can be presented as a great tourist attraction with a unique Maltese touch. Just imagine what a photo opportunity that may provide.

Moreover, as we are speaking about carnival, it is about time that the culture ministry considers a carnival village, where enthusiasts could build and further develop their talents with peace of mind as they will be protected from the elements. A local carnival museum would definitely be a highlight in such a village.
