I read with interest the letter by Marie Wagner (‘For justice to prevail’, June 7). I am involved in a civil case which has now been going on for eight months. The claim being made against my wife and I is, to me, a classic example of perjury appearing to be readily accepted by the courts.

Should one dare to challenge the evidence, the goalposts are very quickly moved.

At one hearing, the magis-trate ordered that it be heard in Maltese and this, of course, prevented us from disputing any of the evidence.

If the correspondent would kindly supply me with details of the head of the legal department in Brussels I would be extremely grateful to her.
