The Times reported (November 2) that the Nationalist Party is “standing firm” on not allowing MP Franco Debono to contest the next general election.
This report had followed MEP Simon Busuttil’s comment that he was not averse to reconciliation with the rebel Nationalist MP.
The PN’s information director, Frank Psaila, stated that the position of the party executive regarding Debono still stands and, as a result, the Nationalist Party is not for turning on this matter.
Without entering into the merits of the Debono case, I would like to ask Psaila whether he had behaved in a conscientious and ethical manner when, in the run-up to the Floriana council election held last March, fellow candidate Matthew Paris was invited to appear on Net TV discussion programmes seven times whereas I, who had been a Floriana councillor for 12 years, was never invited.
