I would like to assure Allan Gatt (September 25) that my convictions with regard to illegal immigrants and other human issues are not because my mind is still soft and impressionable.
My beliefs are based on the Catholic teaching which I freely and convincingly adhere to. I accept these truths realising that they not only enrich me personally, as a human being, but also because they give me a nobler vision of humanity. I believe in respecting the dignity of each and every human person whatever his colour, creed or race and wherever he comes from.
I want to assure Gatt that though I fully agree with him that most of the media’s real interests are to propagate their own agendas and fatten their incomes, I was never influenced by what he terms as “the staged and theatrical garbage of many news programmes”.
The media’s interests, all over the world, will remain what they are and the values of compassion, altruism, selfless love – that Jesus came on earth to teach – will remain true for every era and generation and in any circumstance.
