The upgraded waterfront of Iż-Żewwieqa in Mġarr, Gozo, is expected to be opened to the public next month.

Visiting the works yesterday, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said the €5 million project – mostly EU-funded – will be another recreational facility for Gozitan families and improve the island’s appeal to tourists.

The waterfront will display the last Dgħajsa tal-Latini – a traditional Gozitan boat – an embellished promenade and water features. New facilities are being built for fishermen to berth their boats.

Dr Gonzi said the project would complement Gozo’s yacht marina, which the Government plans to expand further in the coming legislature.
