The income tax reform introduced for football players in last year’s Budget has been extended to also cover water polo players.

They will now enjoy a 7.5 per cent income tax rate to help clubs be more “professional and legitimate”.

The government is considering a new public-private partnership to make the Marsa horse racecourse more professional. That is not the only racecourse on the government’s mind because a call for expressions of interest for the long-awaited motor sports track is expected over the next 12 months.

About €700,000 has been allocated to help train sports administrators who work in local sports clubs. They will help in the day-to-day running of organisations and assist them with accessing funds.
