The environment sector will be relegated to second class as confirmed after the minister responsible declared he had not been consulted in the revision of the outside scheme policy, the Nationalist Party said.

Environment Minister Leo Brincat told The Sunday Times of Malta that he had not been consulted on the revision of the scheme and admitted that it would have a substantial impact on the environment.

Party spokesmen Charlo Bonnici and Ryan Callus said his admission showed how the environment authority, under the new reform, was going to be ignored.
