Nigerian brown beans in packets branded Nigeria Taste must not be consumed, the Environmental Health Directorate warned yesterday.

Eating the beans risks contamination with the chemical aluminium phosphide, which can be highly toxic.

The beans are sold in packets of one kilo, 1.5 kilos and four kilos and the warning applies to all lots.

Health Inspectorate Services may be contacted on 21337333 or mhi@gov.mt.
