The roads and streets around the University have turned into a gold mine for local wardens. For the past few weeks, we have had numerous visits by wardens at Tal-Għarghar and Wied Għollieqa Streets, San Ġwann, and Birkirkara Road, Msida. They seem to enjoy fining students for alleged parking contraventions.
On November 9, we were amused at the way these highly-trained guardians and enforcers of the law address citizens when asking questions. A particular warden (we have his number) spoke arrogantly to a female student when she merely asked a question. His reply was abrupt and his attitude left a lot to be desired.
It is imperative that such wardens understand that their main role is to educate the citizens and not slap fines for the first contravention.
We believe that some of them should understand that they are there to provide a service and to do so politely.
