Since last Monday the main entrance to the Minor Seminary School of Victoria, is the one facing the Hotspurs Football Club in Enrico Mizzi Street, next to St Francis Square.

For the past couple of years the administration of this school, the only boys’ secondary Church school in Gozo, has been trying to acquire the service of a policeman or traffic warden to be present at the main portals of the school during the times when the students begin or end their time at school, i.e. at 8.05am and 2.15pm.

For some reason these requests have not been heeded. Would it be possible, now that this school is being frequented by a record 300 students from all over Gozo, for it to have a policeman or warden at its service at least during the end of the schoolday, at about 2.15pm?

This would help avoid car accidents and also provide for a greater sense of order and control.

Various other State schools already enjoy such a service. Do the parents of these 300 students not pay taxes like everybody else? I hope that this plea does not fall on deaf ears.
