The January transfer window officially opens on Thursday but negotiations involving clubs and players begun a while ago, resulting in a number of deals being agreed upon the past few days.

Sliema Wanderers are poised to sign Bosnia international Admir Vladavic until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old midfielder, who has made 12 appearances for his country, is already training with the Blues who are hopeful of completing Vladavic’s registration before their league clash with Mosta on Saturday.

Vladavic, who had a one-year spell with Austria’s Red Bull Salzburg in 2009-2010, began this season on loan with Bosnian club FC Velez Mostar.

The Blues are also in advanced talks with a Bosnia U-21 defender who is expected to replace Alessandro Rapino. The Italian centre-half only joined Sliema last month but the club have decided against retaining his services.

Left-back Jacob Borg is another player who has an uncertain future at the Wanderers after failing to impress in the first half of the season.

Elsewhere, Valletta have agreed to loan out three players until the end of the season.

Winger Dyson Falzon will rejoin Mosta, midfielder Kurt Magro is off to Balzan and defender Yessous Camilleri will spend the second half of the season with Division One high-flyers Żebbuġ Rangers.

Magro will join a host of a new players at Balzan who are fine-tuning their squad in the hope of reviving their Championship Pool challenge.

Brazilian defender Ramon, formerly of Vittoriosa Stars, Brazilian forward Pedrinho, who has returned to Balzan after a short spell in Thailand, and Chilean midfielder Edison Bilbao Zarate (ex-Qormi) have already linked up with their new team-mates.

Making way for the new signings at Balzan are Brazilian goalkeeper Daniel Martinez, Brazilian forward Joselito and Albanian midfielder Erjon Beu.

Brazilian defender Rodrigo Pereira, currently serving a 28-day club suspension for disciplinary reasons, is also heading for the exit door at Balzan.

Championship Pool contenders Naxxar Lions have terminated the contract of wing-back Louis Cutajar who has been beset by persistent injuries since joining the club last summer.

Winger Ousseni Zongo’s days at Naxxar also look numbered while defender Evaldo is expected to return to Brazil after Saturday’s game against Vittoriosa Stars.

Naxxar have set their sights on an Argentine defender, David Aleandro Reano, to fill Evaldo’s void.

Vittoriosa are in the hunt for a goalkeeper as Jean Mathias Vella is no longer in coach Oliver Spiteri’s plans.
