By far the greater number of electors, whose vote is just as important as yours and mine, will follow their heart and cast their vote in favour of either one of the two main political parties. But what will the several silent thousands do with their vote?

Some must be more or less tormented by the classical dilemma of the head and the heart. These should be encouraged to grasp the essentials of our general situation. Others, who will have the heart to use their heads wisely, should be admired for not allowing themselves to be taken in by trivial details or the paraphernalia of campaign showmanship. Let’s not miss the wood for the trees!

Abstention for whatever reason is neither a civic nor a moral choice. We should all feel privileged and honoured when asked to serve our country by casting a sensible vote on March 9.
