Local voluntary organisation Living Waters recently set off to do five weeks of voluntary mission work in Ethiopia.

The aim of the team members, whose travel insurance was covered by Allcare, is to alleviate the hardship and suffering people in Ethiopian communities endure daily.

Living Waters members work hard to provide these people with the tools necessary to help them improve the quality of their life and encourage them to acquire the independence needed to progress out of poverty.

One of the first projects is the provision of clean water. The team will be able to coordinate and implement the project thanks to the financial support of Maltese benefactors.

“Seeing the drive and passion in these volunteers is truly heartwarming. It was our pleasure to play a small part in their worthy cause,” said Allcare CEO Judith Galea.

Andrew Attard from Living Waters said the majority of people in Ethiopia lived in poverty and struggled each day to keep hunger and disease at bay. Basic opportunities to improve their lives were frequently beyond reach.
