The Voices Foundation recently distributed €190,000 to 24 charities.
The money was raised at the Voices ‘Listen to the Music’ concerts, held over 10 nights lastOctober.
Voices consists of a 200-strong choir and a live band made up of 10 musicians.
The lead project selected for funding was the St Jeanne Antide Foundation.
The project involves community outreach in neighbourhoods where there are considerable social problems in order to support vulnerable individuals and their families who are poor or at risk of poverty.
The other beneficiaries were the Community Chest Fund, Get Up Stand Up, Mental Health Association, Mid-Dlam għad-Dawl, Greenhouse, Home Start, St Patrick’s Home, Malta Dementia Association, Kopin, Malta Gay Rights Movement, Inizjamed, Clown Doctors, Ċentru Tbexbix, Sisters of St Joseph, Equal Partners, Dar Pirotta, Ejjew Għandi, Special Olympics, Millennium Chapel, JRS, Daughters of the Sacred Heart, Fondazzjoni Wens and the Mission Fund.
This year, 65 requests for funding were received by the Voices Foundation. The final beneficiaries were chosen after assessment by a separate advisory board appointed specifically for this purpose.
