Vodafone is to make the new nano SIM cards, the smallest on the market, available in stores as from tomorrow.

Measuring just 12.3mm by 8.8mm and a mere 0.7mm thick, this latest SIM is 30 per cent smaller than the micro SIM currently in use with many smartphones. Now, manufacturers are producing devices that are thinner and more appealing, achieving a better balance between the need for powerful components and a slim design.

“The nano SIM is so tiny you might only be able to handle it with tweezers,” terminals senior executive Karl Galea explained. “We are proud to be the first in Malta to offer our consumers the nano SIM.

“Don’t let its size fool you. It still packs a punch by comprising a wide range of available memory.

“It is essential to ensure that our customers are able to use state-of-the art devices.”

The nano SIM will still be delivered in an ID-1 frame, just like most plug-in and micro SIM cards, yet it is unique in thickness, which means it cannot be cut down to size from a micro SIM.
