A man was told off by a magistrate after appearing before him charged with assaulting his former partner in the court corridor.

Magistrate Tonio Micallef Trigona told Renald Hayman, 32, of Senglea, that he had given him enough chances to reform and still he kept relapsing.

Mr Hayman, who the court heard had a history of violent behaviour, was accused of harassing, assaulting and slightly injuring Rodienne Pace.

The court heard he slammed her head against a court notice board at about 11.30am on Tuesday, soon after a sitting on another case he was involved in.

A visibly irate magistrate told Mr Hayman that he had been very patient with him and would show no more clemency. He had been given innumerable opportunities to get his life back on the right track but chose to ignore them all.

The magistrate stopped Mr Hayman’s lawyer when he was about to apply for bail, ruling there would be no such thing.

Mr Hayman, who was also charged with breaching a probation order and several other previous releases, was remanded in custody.
