Footage of a French photographer performing sexual acts on one of his young Maltese male models surfaced yesterday as dozens of explicit ‘selfies’ continued to dominate the social media.

In the footage, seen by Times of Malta, a young male is seen posing in the nude in what appears to be an abandoned building.

The three-minute clip, recorded by an unmanned video camera, was taken while another man, believed to be French, watched and commented on the young man’s chiselled physique. It is not known when the video was recorded. However, the attire of the photographer seems to suggest it was taken during the sum-mer months.

A few minutes into the video, the photographer compliments the model on his toned body and touches him.

“It’s hard, I love it,” the photographer said as he rubbed the model’s abdominals.

Eventually, the photographer performs oral sex on the model while the video camera continues to record.

In Malta, distributing, circulating or publishing pornographic material is prohibited by Article 208 of the Criminal Code. Under Maltese law, pornography is defined as material whose dominant characteristics are the exploitation of, or undue emphasis on, sex.

It is not yet known when the video first appeared online, but sources confirmed that it was spotted on Facebook as early as last week.

In the past few days a wave of explicit images of Maltese men and women have taken social media by storm.

The widespread sharing of the photos has been facilitated through popular instant messaging applications such as WhatsApp Messenger. Like the compromising ‘selfies’, the video also sparked a number of hateful online comments. Surprisingly, however, these were mostly directed towards the young model and not the photographer.

Dozens of derogatory comments were hurled at the young man, most of which were colloquial terms for homosexual. One comment seen by this newspaper suggested that the young man leave the country while another said: “Don’t worry – I don’t think he’ll be with us for much longer.”

The model involved in this case has since deleted his Facebook account and did not respond to attempts to contact him by this newspaper.
