The city of Victoria was in a splendid celebration mode as a concert to mark the 125th anniversary since Queen Victoria granted the town of Rabat the status of a city and be officially renamed Victoria.

As a fitting conclusion to a week of celebrations to mark this anniversary, an open-air concert featuring the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chorus Urbanus and various soloists was held in Independence Square.

I can count myself so fortunate to be able to attend such a fabulous concert, in the open air and moreover for free. While visiting the George Cross exhibition at the Citadel the day before, I was told about the concert and I was astounded at the quality and beauty of it all.
