Sliema ASC have consolidated the club’s swimming set-up with the appointment of Alfred Cachia as Director of Swimming.

Cachia is a prominent sporting figure in local swim sport, having held various coaching and administrative roles both at club and national level. His qualifications and experience have often seen him deliver talks and lectures at universities and sporting associations both locally and internationally.

Sliema club secretary Darren Saliba said Cachia’s appointment came at the right time and is in line with the club’s strategy to support the expansion Blues’ swimming academy.

“Alfred Cachia has held various roles at club and national level over the years. He has always been particularly fond of swimming as a discipline,” he said.

“We consider him to be the coaches’ coach and is a welcome addition to the club’s ever-growing swimming coaching staff.”

Cachia’s team will include club head coach Francesca Paolella and swimming section coordinator Kevin Casaru. Others in the coaching staff are Julian Harding, Jeffrey Galea and Louise Cachia.
