Italy midfielder Marco Verratti has signed a new five-year contract with Paris St Germain, according to the midfielder’s agent.

The 23-year-old, who has won four Ligue 1 titles and five domestic cups at the Parc de Princes but missed much of last season with a knee injury, had been linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer.

However, he has chosen to stay put and Verratti’s agent Donato Di Campli tweeted a picture of the player signing paperwork with the caption: “And we arrive at the fourth renewal... signed until 2021.”
