Vassallo Group held its annual ‘Shine Awards’ night at the Sir Temi Zammit Hall, Tal-Qroqq.

Awards for excellence in various areas of operation and for overall performance were awarded. These included awards for the best customer focus, green initiatives, project and service quality.

Other awards were given for efforts related to health and safety and training and development. For the first time an award for diversity and inclusion was also introduced. Awards were also given to the best employee, supervisor and manager.

In a speech during the event Group chairman Nazzareno Vassallo spoke about the main achievements of the Group throughout the past year. He launched two new schemes for the employees – a pension bonus scheme for those who reach pensionable age after years of service with the Group and a loyalty reward scheme where employees can share from the group’s success in a tangible way.

The event was compered by TV personality and actor Ben Camille.

The coveted chairman’s awards were given to all those involved in the evacuation of elderly residents at Casa San Paolo in Bugibba where fire broke out recently in the home’s laundry room.

The event included the participation of Janice Mangion, who placed second in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest and dancers from the group Street Elements. Indian nurses working in various CareMalta homes staged a performance in typical Indian costumes highlighting the Group’s belief in promoting cultural diversity.
