Court action against three persons suspected of involvement in the VAT scandal and arrested in April 2009 is still pending, Justice Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici told Parliament in reply to a question by Labour MP Leo Brincat.

The minister said a total of six persons had been arraigned in court. One had been liberated, one had been sentenced to two years’ imprisonment suspended for four years together with a €450 fine and general interdiction, and another had been sentenced to two years’ imprisonment suspended for four years, a fine of €500 and general interdiction.
