The Blood Bank yesterday said it could not keep up with demand for blood and was urging donors to come forward to help it build up its reserves.

The bank, which is adjacent to St Luke’s Hospital in Guardamangia, is open all week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Donations can also be made at the Gozo hospital between 8.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. onors have to produce their ID card.

Blood appeals are becoming more frequent because demand for blood is on the increase as the number of operations performed at Mater Dei goes up.
