Alternattiva Demokratika chairman Michael Briguglio called on the government to announce an election date.

The current state of uncertainty due to “untenable internal conflicts” within the Nationalist parliamentary group should come to an end. Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi should stop procrastinating through “self-defeating strategies” and announce the date for general election.

Otherwise, Malta would experience a summer of speculation, spin and media circuses, to the detriment of real political decisions, Mr Briguglio said. He said that if AD were “elected in Parliament it will work to implement as much of its programme possible without resorting to prima donna petty politics”.
