In the editorial on Dom Mintoff (The Sunday Times, April 8) it is stated: “This is a man who blighted Malta with unsightly structures and yet adores nature and the countryside.”

While I certainly do not condone any “unsightly structures” that may have been built in Mr Mintoff’s time, I strongly believe those unsightly structures pale into insignificance when compared with the many more horrendous structures that have mushroomed in our country under Eddie Fenech Adami and Lawrence Gonzi.

The ugly structure going up at the entrance to our historic capital city – the new parliament – not only blights Malta but insults the very fabric of Valletta’s historic buildings.
