The end of semester stress seems to have weighed down on two University lecturers who ended up arguing about time lost during the lecture changeover.

The incident, which took place at about 9 a.m. at Gateway Hall E on Wednesday, according to University sources, saw Chief Justice Silvio Camilleri, who lectures part time, and the head of the Education Studies department, Peter Mayo, engaged in a war of words over a lecture room.

Prof. Mayo, according to the sources, informed Dr Camilleri that his allotted time was up as it was already 9.05 a.m., five minutes into his lecture. (Dr Camilleri was booked for the 8 a.m. – 9 a.m. slot.)

The Chief Justice pointed out that, according to his watch, it was not yet 9 a.m., after which the conversation quickly escalated into a lively exchange.

A spokesman said the University authorities were aware of the incident but considered it closed.
