Manchester United have become a money-machine as income figures for Premier League clubs last season amply illustrate.

In the Premier League, including television revenue, United set a new record with a yearly income of £60.4m (seven million more than last season). The other three in the top four had their coffers boosted as follows: Chelsea − £57.7m, Manchester City £55.5m and Arsenal − £56.2m.

Blackpool, the lowest earners in the Premier League last season, still earned a massive £39m.

Participation in the Champions League final on May 28 yielded Manchester United over £70m, taking their gross income to £130.4 overall for season 2010/11.

Further proof of the disparity between the big guns and the rest is that the Red Devils made £100m in match-day income while Newcastle only generated £21m − a staggering difference of £79m.
