The General Workers’ Union has presented a petition signed by 207 G4 Security employees working at Mater Dei Hospital, demanding equal pay and working conditions as government employees who are in the same positions.

The union said the health authorities had promised the company, which offers security, clerical and parking services at Mater Dei Hospital, that a tender levelling out the differences would be issued earlier this year.

The tender should have been issued in March and adjudicated by August, a news conference was told in front of the health ministry.

Discussions with the health authorities started earlier this year as requests were made for the company ’s employees to be given the same conditions and wages as their civil service counterparts.

A meeting with the health authorities to discuss the issue is expected to take place later this month.
