A traffic warden in Ta’ Xbiex appears to be attempting to defraud motorists. My wife received a summons claiming she did not indicate the right time on her parking disc but is prepared to swear under oath that, in fact, she did indicate the right time on the disc and did return to her vehicle within the permitted parking time.

No ticket had been left on the windscreen. The summons states that this claimed offence occurred in Ta’ Xbiex and a friend of ours informs us that he has suffered a similar claimed parking disc offence (which he too denies) in Ta’ Xbiex.

It is perhaps about time that this traffic warden private company (whose primary function is to collect money for shareholders and local councils) be wound up.

Public officers should be in charge of law enforcement and the issue of traffic offence penalties, rather than employees of a private company.
