Reference is made to the General Workers’ Union’s letter titled Drive For More Members (April 20).

No matter what the union officials say, it is abundantly clear that, with Labour in government, the GWU now feels that it can flex its muscles. This is in stark contrast to the Malta Union of Bank Employees, which has always steered clear of petty politics and which has a track record to show for it.

MUBE has always fought for its members through thick or thin.

The fact remains that the GWU is now all out to poach members from its rival MUBE in the most unethical manner possible. Indeed, there is a ‘fill in the blanks’ letter of resignation template, addressed to MUBE.

Loyal members of MUBE can rest assured that the GWU’s boasting of resignations are only a gross exaggeration and are nothing more than another attempt to prop up their unethical campaign.

What distinguishes MUBE from the GWU remains the sheer professionalism and the everlasting sincere dedication of MUBE to its members. Ever since MUBE was founded in 1972, it always brought prestige and dignity to the large majority of employees it represents and to the sector itself.

The collective agreements that were signed testify to the great strides in working conditions achieved over the years.

MUBE is indeed proud that it remains the flagship union in the field and is a dynamic union synonymous with the financial sector both in Malta and beyond.
