Malta’s unemployment rate in February stood stable at 6.8 per cent even as the eurozone’s soared to 10.8 per cent.

According to new data published by Eurostat, unemployment was 0.4 per cent higher than in the previous 12 months but was still the sixth lowest among the 27 EU member states.

The highest unemployment figure registered in Malta in February was for those aged 25 years and under, at 14.5 per cent, which was a drop of 0.3 per cent over January.

The lowest unemployment rates in February were recorded in Austria (4.2 per cent) and the Netherlands (4.9 per cent), and the highest in Spain (23.6 per cent) and Greece (21 per cent).
