Divers will be able to pin baubles onto an underwater Christmas tree on Boxing Day to raise money for the annual charity fundraiser L-Istrina.

This is the second time that Dive Systems is holding the Underwater Christmas Tree fundraiser in collaboration with the Calypso Sub Aqua Club. The first one took place in 2010 when almost 100 divers took part, collecting over €1,200 for the national charity.

Weather permitting, this year’s event will start at 10am at Exiles in Sliema, in front of the Dive Systems centre.

Divers will be provided with free tanks and air for the dive against a minimum donation of €10. They will be given decorations to place on the tree. Those who donate €15 will also get a strobe light that they can keep afterwards.

All decorations will be collected after the event so there will be no adverse effect on the environment.
