Malta is taking part in UN-supported talks about the conflict in Libya.

Ambassador Joe Mangion, the Minister for Foreign Affairs’ special envoy for Libya, is representing the Maltese government at Gadames, an oasis town to the southwest of Tripoli. Malta was one of the first to call for the UN’s intervention to bring stability there and the talks are being held under the aegis of the UN support mission in Libya on the initiative of the UN Secretary General’s special representative, Bernardino Leon.
