The Union Ħaddiema Magħqudin has denied betraying a group nursing managers in a collective agreement signed in February.

In a statement issued yesterday, a day after the group filed a judicial protest against the union accusing it of improper practices, the UĦM said it had always worked in the interest of the workers without prejudice.

The union said nothing was done behind anyone’s back and the nursing managers took part in the consultative meetings, after which a vote was taken and the absolute majority approved the collective agreement.

In fact the managers benefited from a salary increase of €2,000 and a promotion. The UĦM had always worked in favour of all workers, regardless of their beliefs, and in favour of meritocracy. This group wanted to bar others from being eligible for promotion, it said.
