An EU-funded project is aiming to help workers participate actively in social dialogue.
The ‘Voice of the Workers’ project will be managed by the Union Ħaddiema Magħqudin, in partnership with the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD).
UĦM general secretary Josef Vella said the project was in line with the union’s vision.
“Social dialogue in Malta is strong. However, participation at grassroots level needs to be strengthened,” he said at the project’s launch.
“This is what this project aims to achieve, to equip the Maltese workers to participate in social dialogue.
“This will help to make local and European social and economic policies reflect better the realities and needs of our society.”
MEP candidates and representatives of the MCESD discussed how workers could be better equipped to shape local and European policies.
They also formally signed up to the project’s weekly magazine, which will provide information and education as a means to enable workers who want to get their voice heard.
