A motorist who continued to drive while he was banned was jailed for two years yesterday.

Josef Borg, 21, from Ħamrun, was caught driving through Isouard Street in Marsa on February 12 and again in Buskett Street, limits of Dingli, on April 14. He was also driving without insurance cover.

Magistrate Francesco Depasquale also found Mr Borg guilty of driving carelessly, dangerously and excessively fast and refusing to obey police orders in February.

The magistrate said he had persistently disobeyed court orders despite various decisions against him, adding that the punishment should reflect such lack of respect towards the court and the law.

He also banned him from driving for two years.
