On October 19, 2012, the Los Angeles Times reported that the Boy Scouts of America had released confidential files showing that, over a 27-year period from 1958 to 1985, 1,200 scout leaders had been accused of child abuse. This was hardly reported in European media, let alone around the world.

If the Catholic Church had released files showing that a similar number of priests had been accused in the same period there would certainly have been a huge outcry worldwide.

This proves that the world media is more inclined to denounce the Catholic Church than child sexual abuse. A case of two weights and two measures!

The British newspaper The Daily Telegraph said in March 2010 that, thanks to Pope Benedict XVI, “there is no safer place for a child today to be than with a Catholic priest”.
