Two men accused of stealing a mobile phone from two young women in Ħamrun were remanded in custody after a magistrate deemed them untrustworthy. Covered in tattoos and kitted out in a blue Manchester United top with rosary beads around his neck, Peter Paul Galea, 38, of Ħamrun pleaded not guilty to stealing the phone on Sunday afternoon.

His friend, Ronnie Muscat, 32, of Pietà, wearing shorts and a sleeveless grey top, also denied the same charges.

They both denied relapsing.

Magistrate Anthony Vella remanded them in custody after paging through their criminal records.

Police Inspector Kevin Farrugia prosecuted.

Lawyer Joe Brincat appeared for the accused.
