Two people were injured in a freak accident at Xemxija yesterday afternoon.

A witness said the two were sitting on a wooden bench when a silver coloured Peugeot car mounted the pavement and crashed into it.

Parts of the bench ended up in the middle of the road and both people were hospitalised. No other car appears to have been involved in the accident.
