Two men were yesterday arraigned over the theft of two brass boat propellers and were remanded in custody due to their voluminous criminal record.

Keith Pace, 32, of Marsa, denied stealing the items, handling stolen property and relapsing while Mario Farrugia, 43, of Santa Venera denied handling the stolen goods and stealing items from the Go Mobile offices in Sa Maison in Msida in January.

During the arraignment yesterday, lawyer Arthur Azzopardi, who appeared for both of the men, argued that, when it came to the arrest of Mr Pace, the police did not follow correct procedure as he was not served with a warrant of arrest. He asked the court to order an investigation into what exactly happened.

The lawyer also requested that Mr Pace be kept at Mount Carmel Hospital because he has been under treatment and will continue to receive help.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia sent a request for Mr Pace to be kept at the hospital for treatment.
