Guests dining out or staying overnight at Le Méridien St Julian’s Hotel & Spa will now enjoy even more value for their money, as the Balluta Bay hotel has now joined the international Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty programme.

For the first time, the hotel is also extending the scheme so that customers earn points while using not only any of the hotel’s bars and restaurants but also third-party outlets operating within the hotel.

Points earned from the Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty programme can be redeemed for accommodation and other amenities in any participating hotel, both in Malta and abroad. This is the first local loyalty scheme to offer such extensive redemption possibilities.

The system works by awarding clients two base Starpoints for each US dollar spent. Regular customers will see their status upgraded from SPG Preferred to SPG Gold or SPG Platinum, depending on how often they use the facilities at participating hotels and how much they spend at participating properties around the globe.

Privileges and rewards increase with every status upgrade, such as earning three Starpoints per US dollar spent (instead of two), guaranteed free room upgrades, late check-out, great amenities and more.

The currency of this loyalty programme, called Starpoints, is redeemable for free night awards at over 1,100 Starwood hotels and resorts in nearly 100 countries, award flights, room upgrades and a host of other travel and entertainment privileges.

Whereas before, the programme only awarded members for overnight stays and accommodation charges, Starpoints are now awarded even on spending at least €10 on food and beverages. This is particularly convenient for local patrons who often dine at participating hotels without systematically staying overnight.

“We are excited about this enhancement to our loyalty programme,” general manager Franco Vella said. “This is the perfect way to reward our loyal, local patrons who dine with us regularly. Subscription to the programme is free and I encourage clients to benefit.”

The loyalty scheme also includes some of its third-party outlets located on the ground floor of the hotel and its renowned MyoKa Spa on the second floor. Members presenting their card at KuDéTa Bar & Lounge (in the lobby), 202 Jewelers, Jigami Hairdressing, House of Beauty perfumery or MyoKa Lotus Spa will earn points.
